This’ll be a quick one, because I am both extremely tired—again, still—and trying to practice what I preach.
On that note: Thank you so much to everyone who’s reported back on their C minus wins. So far I’ve heard about C- paintings, poems, fan fiction, gardening, craft projects, and baking, and I’m positively bursting with pride about all of it. Your “good enough” (and even “not good enough”!) efforts persistently prove themselves not only worthy but downright astonishing. Please keep sending me your underachievement updates. It makes my day every time.
Exhibit A: The magical creature pictured above is [allegedly] a C- effort by Helen Fields. She has kelp hair because she’s a C witch, like me. Is there anything about her that seems flawed, insufficient, or unlovable? Absolutely not. Let this be a lesson to the rest of you. (And to me. I will probably always need a reminder.)

This month at The Last Word on Nothing: a love poem for the eclipse. The first draft of this poem dates back to 2008, and I am incredibly grateful that I can no longer relate to it.
tenderness toward existence days
The very loose theme for April’s tiny holidays is “be kind to vulnerable creatures, especially bats and yourself.” This may also be the very loose theme of this newsletter, and my life.
